Oh hello! Remember a week or two ago when I was all "I'm a firm believer in jinx, so I will only draw pictures of the house we are trying to buy?" Call me coocoo, but hey, it worked (or it had nothing to do with it)... regardless, we got the house, the dream house. I swear this classic 1907 year old Portland home is the very best of every house- apartment I've ever lived in, in my entirety (I'm talking builtins, wood floors, character and charm through the blimenty roof people).An-y-ways,  we have been non stop over the moon, and can't wait to eat cake and drink tea on the deck with you, (among other things "you do" in a house). Since we were ever so thrilled to get things started at the new abode, we have been slowly moving in bit by bit, and internet has been lacking in that process...and let's just say it's been a week without the chicken wire (yeah, I said "chicken wire..." Alex called the internet that once, and it stuck, because obviously it's pretty silly). So now that we are connected to the world wide web, I can post a thing or two about the house.Photos/drawings 1-6 are just a glimpse of us lately.
1.Me and Alex the day we got the keys, happiest clams in town (does that make sense?)
2. The beautiful builtin in our entry way, featuring Alex's latest Oregon poster, and a taxidermy wolf head from when his Dad was in college.
3.Our bedroom, a work in progress, though it feels like we are staying in a comfortable, clean, B&B every night (none of our art or photos are up, and (gulp) my shoes still reside 1.5 miles away).
4. The beautiful builtins in our kitchen.
5. Our next door neighbors are a dream come true, proof... the beautiful bouquet of Dalliahs they left on our porch with a welcome note. I couldn't resist a note and a jar of jam back (what, that's how I was raised).
6.This drawing is all my favorite things in a two block walk radius. Foster Burger, Speedboat Coffee, Xuyen Bakery,Ivon's Barber shop, The Carts on Foster, The Cake Decorette shop, and of course a portrait of our lovely next door neighbors.

Ok more to come soon... Hope you are grand.

1.Vintage  1950's State trays from parent's/ in laws state of origin (future home decoration aspirations).
2. Alex and his older brother Shaun at a recent family dinner. Photo credit my mother in law Dolores (easy on the eyes fellows).
3. The beloved Saw Tooth, my families cat. Caught this firecracker in a moment of calm, the feline allowed a pet,  and even a purr (which didn't result in the usual clawed  arm slap).
4. A Delicate Doilies sale, packaged and sent to Canada.
5. A run in with one of my favorite pals ( Shola Doily Lawson, note her boots, so fly!).
6. Some scrumptious Egg Carton cart food in the soon to be new hood! The famous FoPo Cristo, and man was it tasty.
7. A  night out with my doppelg√§nger, Emily (yes, we are both Emilys, cue the twilight zone music).

A House to Write Home About

Have I mentioned that I'm a firm believer of Jinxing?  Now I'm not talking about Ouija boards or anything too kooky, though there a few things I feel can sway one's luck (example if a black cat crosses my path, deep down, I'm hoping that baby has a white belly). As I've revealed, Alex and I have been searching high and low for the perfect Portland home. Recently, we put an offer on a true Portland beauty, and are currently in the final stages of sealing the deal. As a newbie to the world of signing your money away and your life with it, I realize "the final stages of sealing the deal" can be quite the timely process (we are just over a month). Since I'm a firm believer in jinx, I'm going to hold off on house photos till it is happily in our arms (yes, till the house is happily in our arms). In the mean time, the pictures above add a glimpse (to almost nothing)of what the house is like, and could be like. The drawing in the top,  the house (clearly), built in 1907, 3 bedrooms 1.5 baths, blue with white trim, original fixtures, wood floors, lovely neighbors,  beautiful.  The next three drawings are things I feel would look absolutely fabulous in the house (not to be confused with the British sitcom my mother likes, ABFAB). I'm on the look out for the perfect vintage dresser, a blue hobnail glass pitcher, and a rag doll cat to name Little Biggie. Un-jinxed, stay tuned for more details and real photos of the house.

'Merica

Now's the time to chant USA USA USA, and know that somewhere a bald eagle is majestically flying (soaring, duh) in front of a star spangled sunset (are you with me?). Ok but seriously folks, the Fourth of July came and went, and all though I didn't see any eagles, I sure did eat hot dogs! Alex and I enjoyed a hilly bike ride home (that could easily be confused with a "silly hilly" bike ride home, "silly" because every time we would see a huge firework, Alex would say "a night to surely remember.") Though we didn't see all the sweet faces of our favorites, we did get to see some, over some BBQ and chips. Hope your Fourth was full of good old fashion fun.
